• Team members must submit and present the proposal together. Changes in groups will be considered on an individual basis.
  • Participants must be at least 18 years old and in the local DC/Maryland/Virginia area since attendance is an essential part of the team participation. 
  • Each team is responsible for their own computers. We will provide Wi-Fi, electrical plugs, tables, and projectors at the Hackathon on Oct 1st. Other requests may be considered.
  • Once your proposal is accepted, the team can start working. We will provide a contact email and Slack channel for questions, discussions, and other issues.
  • Team members must have or create a Github account. Each team will receive access to a Github repository.
    • All work in the code work must in that repository.
    • The team members will retain ownership of the code.

Each participant will need to sign a participation agreement that covers:

  • Software is the property of the participants, but with open license (Apache2 or compatible) and release for the Smithsonian Institution to use.
  • Use of the Smithsonian data provided is for the Hackathon only, further use will require additional permissions.
  • Photo releases.
  • Code of conduct.
  • No warranties of any kind, including data quality and availability.
